Showcasing an exceptional collection in an iconic venue
Some collections deserve more than just an exhibition.
They call for a narrative.
For the presentation of the OAK Collection at the Design Museum in London, épisode(s) supported the project from the exhibition’s conception and construction through to the design of the content and the organization of the opening reception, which brought together 800 guests.
A project at the intersection of three disciplines: exhibition design, production, and event planning.
THE CHALLENGE: Let the collection tell its own story
When presenting an exceptional collection, the exhibition design must find its proper place.
It's too prominent; it overshadows the exhibits.
It is too subtle; it does not allow visitors to understand the story being told.
The challenge, therefore, was to create an environment that would showcase the collection while providing a cohesive visitor experience.
Space then becomes much more than just a container.
He contributes to the narrative.
THE EXPERIENCE: Think Like a Visitor
An exhibition is best experienced in motion.
Let's go in.
We observe.
We're getting closer.
We read.
Let's change our perspective.
We move from one universe to the next.
The design must therefore take into account not only what the visitor sees, but also the order in which they see it.
It is this concept of a journey that ultimately links exhibition design and event planning: in both cases, the experience must be conceived through the eyes of the person who will be experiencing it.
FROM DESIGN TO REALITY
The project didn't stop at the design phase.
épisode(s) also supported the development of the exhibition and the design of its content, right through to its installation at the Design Museum.
This is a key aspect of our approach.
A creative recommendation must be able to withstand the transition to reality.
Dimensions.
Materials.
Contents.
Installation.
Schedule.
Coordination.
Site constraints.
Every creative decision ultimately becomes a production decision.
OPENING NIGHT: 800 guests, a unique experience
Then the project shifts gears.
The exhibition must be open to visitors every day, but it must also host a special event: its opening reception, which will bring together 800 people.
The stakes are no longer exactly the same.
The journey becomes a flow.
The exhibition space also becomes a place of hospitality.
We need to allow guests to explore the collection while managing the reception and the flow of the evening.
Two experiences must therefore coexist in the same place:
the exhibition and the event.

BEHIND THE SCENES: When Multiple Professions Come Together as a Single Project
This type of production is a particularly good example of how we work.
The visitor is viewing an exhibition.
The guest attends an opening.
But behind these two projects lie design, content, development, production, and coordination.
The real challenge is to ensure that all these disciplines move in the same direction.
THE EPISODE(S) TOUCH
At épisode(s), we love projects in which the line between event, staging, content, and experience blurs.
Because that's often where projects get the most interesting.
When a place is more than just a place.
When content is more than just informative.
And when the production process allows an idea to truly come to life.
